Rudraksha – The name breaks into two words: rudra and aksha — the eye, the tear, of Shiva. The Shiva Purana tells of him opening his eyes after long meditation on the suffering of the world, and where the tears fell, the rudraksha tree took root.
Care Instructions:
- Remove before bathing, swimming, or the gym — chlorine and sweat are the two things that shorten plated gold.
- Wipe the Om with a soft dry cloth. No jewellery chemicals, no polish dips.
- Oil the beads, not the metal. A drop of sandalwood or mustard oil on the rudraksha every few weeks keeps them from drying; keep it off the plating.
- Store in the pouch it arrives in, away from perfume and direct sun.
